Finding career opportunities in the creative industry
Introduction
There is a peculiar habit common to those with a keen eye. As they walk along a bustling pavement or a dusty track, amongst the chaos of footsteps and debris, they spot something small, silver, and sharp: a pin.
Most people walk past it. They see it as a trifle, or perhaps they do not see it at all. However, the person who stops, bends down, and picks it up understands a fundamental truth about value. A pin, though tiny, is a tool of connection. It holds things together. It has a point, and it has a purpose.
I see so many of you—bright, young, and newly skilled—as those pins in the dust. You have spent months acquiring digital skills. You have the certifications and the hunger. Nevertheless, you find yourself sitting in the dust of “no experience,” waiting for a hand to pick you up and put you to work.
At The Intellects Magazine (TIM), our motto is “Impacting Your World.” Realising this vision requires more than just possessing talent; you cannot impact a world you are not yet touching.

Clearing the Path for Professional Career Growth
Think of your career as a narrow path cutting through the thickets of the modern creative landscape. On one side, the path is clear, beaten down by the consistent footsteps of those who dared to move. On the other side, the bushes are thick, unruly, and encroaching.
For the young person starting out, these “bushes” represent the stagnation of unused potential—the quiet decay of a dream that never gained momentum. When you stop moving because you are waiting for the “perfect” role, the greenery eventually swallows your path. You lose sight of your destination because you have stopped clearing the way.
Volunteering is the act of walking that path. It is the steady, rhythmic heartbeat of footsteps that keeps the weeds of doubt at bay. By committing your time, you are ensuring your own professional route stays visible to future employers. You are proving that you are a person of action.

The Paradox of the Unused Skillset
I know many of you have “new” skills. You are like a brand-new machete, forged from the finest steel, straight from the factory. You are shiny, you are sharp, and you are full of promise.
Yet, if that blade is tucked away in a drawer, shielded from the “harshness” of the world, it does not stay sharp. Ironically, an unused blade succumbs to rust faster than one that is constantly in use. It becomes blunt, losing its lustre and its ability to cut through the challenges of the media industry.
A machete is only at its best when it is striking against the brush. The friction of the work keeps the edge keen. Whether you are a writer, a marketer, or an assistant, your skills work in exactly the same way. You do not get sharp by waiting; you get sharp by working for a vision. To Impact Your World, you must first ensure your tool is sharp enough to leave a lasting mark.

Join the Q1 2026 Pioneer Cohort: Roles Available
We are looking for the young, the hungry, and the skilled who are tired of sitting in the drawer. We are seeking pioneers for our Q1 2026 Cohort who are ready to sharpen their edges in these specific areas:
Virtual Assistants: The architects of order. You ensure the path is structured so the team can function.
Creative Writers: The storytellers who find the “pins” in the dust and weave narratives that hold our global community together.
Videographers & Editors: The visualists who capture the impact, ensuring our stories are seen and felt.
Digital Marketers: The navigators who clear the noise, leading our audience to the truths we uncover.

Impacting Your World is a Choice
Our motto is a commitment to being useful. It is the realisation that your talent is a gift meant to be used, not a treasure to be hoarded until it is rusty.
If you have the skills but lack the “years of experience,” this is your sharpening ground. The bushes of 2026 are growing rapidly. Do not let your blade rust in the drawer of “someday.”
Step out. Pick up the tool. Walk the path. Impact your world.
